Diaper Styles

Preflats + Contours
Not sure whether a preflat or contour is right for your stash? Here’s the breakdown! Both are absorbent, versatile diapering options that can be paired with any type of cover, but their shapes make them work a little differently than each other.

Preflats
Preflats are flat, stretchy pieces of fabric with a unique “T” shape and extra absorbency added as a 3rd layer or a booster to sit in the center of the fold.

Contours
Contours have a more defined hourglass/diaper shape, with the absorbency concentrated through the middle as a trifold and therefore bulk around the legs. Unlike a preflat, they don’t have to be folded into shape before putting them on baby.

Why Choose Elastic-Free Cloth Diapers?
Elastic-free diapers are a great option for families who want a simple, customizable, and low bulk approach to cloth diapering. Unlike pockets and many fitted diapers, elastic-free styles don’t rely on leg or back elastics to create the fit.

Why some families love them:
* No elastics to wear out — With no leg or back elastic, there’s no concern about elastics stretching, losing their snap, or eventually needing replacement.
* Gentle around baby’s legs — The absence of snug elastic can be appealing for babies who don’t love pressure around their thighs or have sensitive skin.
* Easy to wash — With fewer layers and no elastic tucked into the construction, elastic-free styles can be straightforward to wash and rinse thoroughly.
* Fast drying — Many elastic-free styles are made from relatively simple, absorbent layers without the thick, enclosed construction of some fitted diapers.
* Versatile — Preflats, flats, and other elastic-free styles can be folded or paired with different absorbency options as your baby’s needs change.

So why choose elastic-free?
If you like the idea of customizing your diaper, minimizing wear and tear components, elastic-free cloth may be worth trying. And if you’re already a pocket or AIO family, they can be a fun addition to your stash to try rather than an all-or-nothing switch. 🤍
